I love eating chocolate by itself but it also goes really well with other flavors. Hazelnuts is one of those flavors that seems to be made to go with chocolate. They also add a great texture. The hazelnut butter can also be used to make hazelnut milk, just follow the same step as for the almond milk (see recipe here).

In this recipe I use equal parts of every ingredient, so you can easily halve or double the recipe. I used some small molds that I had to make cakes, I didn’t have specific molds. You could use any other mold, for example a cake pan and then cut it. It is easier to cut with a warm knife, you can either have a bowl with hot water and immerse the knife and then dry before cutting or you could just pour boiling water on the knife blade to make it hot and dry it. Always remember to dry it, water spoils chocolate.

You can serve this bars with some coffee or you can wrap them in aluminum foil (in most places is recyclable) and give them as party favors. I just eat them as dessert.

Ingredients

  • 3.5 oz of dark chocolate 70%
  • 7 oz of raw hazelnuts (divided in two)

Preparation

Step 1 Preheat the oven to low temperature.
Step 2 Spread the hazelnuts on a cooking pan and place in the oven for 10 minutes.
Step 3 For the hazelnuts butter: Put half of the still warm hazelnuts (3.5 oz) on a food processor and pulse until it looks creamy. Reserve.
Step 4 Chop the chocolate and melt over a double boiler.
Step 5 Add the hazelnut butter to the melted chocolate, slowly and mixing well.
Step 6 Then add the whole toasted hazelnuts (3.5 oz) and mix again.
Step 7 Pour onto your chosen molds and cool in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Step 8 Store in the fridge in an airtight container until consumption.
