Oats are a great source of nutrients but did you know that you could also use it to boost your beauty routine?
Well oats are rich in saponins, these phytochemicals act like a detergent and foam when mixed with water. Which makes it a great cleanser. But most importantly, it is a soft cleanser, it won’t overdry your skin, it will just remove the dirt, make up and excess oil, without stripping your skin from the other things it needs.
It is suitable for sensitive skin and acne prone skin. I use it daily and I like it because it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight and it has helped me to keep blackheads at bay. I use it twice a day in summer because it is too warm and humid here, but in winter and fall I use it only before going to bed. You could also use it as a face mask, just apply some more and let it dry!
Face Cleanser with Oat Flour
- whole oats or oat flour
- If using whole oats, grind them until they become like a flour. Store in a jar.
- Wet you face with cool not cold water
- Then pour a teaspoon of oats flour in you hand and add some water drops slowly, until you achieve a clay like consistence.
- Masssage all over your face and neck.
- Rinse and pat dry.
