DIY: Easy 2-Ingredient Vegan Lip Balm

DIY: Easy 2-Ingredient Vegan Lip Balm by Sigrilina -- Just like most people I hate having dry lips but buying lip balm can be tricky as most contain either petroleum jelly or bee wax. As a vegan I don’t use any animal products and I don’t think that not wanting to put petroleum in my lips need further explanation.

Just like most people I hate having dry lips but buying lip balm can be tricky as most contain either petroleum jelly or bee wax. As a vegan I don’t use any animal products and I don’t think that not wanting to put petroleum in my lips need further explanation.

So, as for the recipe I use only Cocoa Butter and Olive oil. You can use other oil but I find olive oil to be quite moisturizing and not as expensive as coconut oil. I love Cocoa butter because it smells deliciously and has a great texture. As a general rule I use one measurement of cocoa butter and half a measurement of olive oil. If you live in a really hot climate, you can add 1/4 teaspoon Carnauba Wax.

If you find that even after letting it rest it doesn’t solidify as you would like it, you can remelt everything and add more Cocoa butter.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon of grated Cocoa butter
  • 1/2 tablespoon of Olive oil

Preparation

  1. In a small pot place the Cocoa butter and the olive oil.
  2. Melt over low heat stirring with a wooden spoon.
  3. Pour on a small tin.
  4. Let cool for at least 4 hours.
